South Burnaby Area Regular Work Days: Monday - Friday with occasional part-time weekend nanny support or early morning or early evening support. (advanced notice will be provided). Start time: Between 8:30 am 9:00 am End time: Between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm Wage: $16 per hour (negotiable depending on nanny’s experience) Location: Our apartment is situated in the South Burnaby area. Close to transit. We are in search of a calm, trustworthy, knowledgeable, patient, caring, motivated, flexible and empathetic/nanny to work in our home to look after our two children. My spouse and I are currently working from home and expected to go back to work in our respective offices by Spring/Summer 2021. - We have a busy work schedule and need a nanny who can care for and play with my second child/toddler. - Our first child, son is in school for the whole day, but arrives home about one to two hours before the nanny's work day ends. - When my son is in not in school (i.e. Pro-D Days, Spring or Summer Break), the nanny will be looking both our children the whole day. - Once we are back at work in the office or on an occasional basis (i.e. we might be required to work on an once a month, attend to important errands/meetings during the day), we expect the nanny to look after our daughter and/or son confidently and safely. Brief Information about our kids: * Our 5 year old son has autism He is generally a sweet and happy boy but is still learning to communicate his thoughts, interact well with adults/peers and manage his emotions. * Our 2.5 years old daughter is like any typical toddler who’s fun, active, sweet and curious to try out new things. * They are both fun to be with! You’ll get your daily dose of exercise and hugs to warm up your day when you are with them. What you will be doing: * Organize creative activities and educational games (e.g. drawing, crafting and puppet games, science experiments, pretend play, singing songs, reading books, participate in interactive, age-appropriate virtual programs) * Prepare simple breakfast, snacks and lunch for the children * Change the diaper of our toddler daughter and assist/train/prompt our son with cleaning up after using the toilet. * Schedule quiet time for our son and nap time for our daughter. * Take care of children in case of injury or illness. * When my son is at home, should have the energy and willingness to learn from my son’s therapy team and apply strategies on how to manage his challenging behaviours and improve his speech and communication skills while looking after him. * Ensure children’s safety when going for short neighborhood walks (weather permitting/ not required/depending on parents' comfort level to bring out the kids). * Light housekeeping (i.e. clean up dining after meals, tidy up play area) Our ideal nanny: * As we have a high-risk family member, it is important for us that the nanny takes the COVID-19 protocols seriously and continues to follow the guidelines set out by the health officials for the duration of the pandemic. This includes wearing mask while at our apartment building as part of our living complex COVID-19 safety protocols, wearing mask during work shift, daily self-health checks, routine hand washing, social distancing. * Experience working with children, early childhood education, or special needs education is preferred * Desire and ability to work with our autistic son and toddler daughter at the same time. * Has a creative, respectful, calm and confident approach to challenges and problem solving, and endless patience * Ability to receive and responsive to feedback * Flexible, reliable and punctual * A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check * Emergency Level First Aid * A driver’s license and ability to do school pick-up in the future or if needed would be an asset, but not required. * Able to legally work in Canada * Medical Note confirming that you are fit for duty * Reference is required.
