We are a family of four located near Seal Bay park, right on the coast of the Salish Sea. We have 2 amazing, energetic, (strong-willed) and loving boys who will be 6 and 10 years old. Raiden (9) attends a francophone school, loves to play with Lego, has recently been introduced to and loves Minecraft, and is very creative and thoughtful. Raiden is high-functioning on the Autism spectrum, and generally requires more attention and help than typical for his age. Cedar (5) is a bundle of energy and loves his mountain bike and all things in nature. Cedar is very sensitive and does well with a bit of extra individual attention. Mom (Ruth-Ann) was a family physician, and Dad (Jeff) is a Search and Rescue technician. Currently Ruth-Ann is not working as she has metastatic kidney cancer and has been going through several treatments over the past several years. We are a bilingual family who speak both English and French. Ideally we would like our nanny to have basic knowledge of one or both languages. In our spare time we enjoy physical activity including running, cycling, swimming and all things outdoors – including rock climbing, canoeing, skiing. Expectations We require our nanny to be flexible in schedule as Jeff’s job is not always predictable and requires him to be on call. Ruth-Ann’s health status is currently stable, but there is the possibility for extra needs to arise due to medical appointments, treatments, or side effects and symptoms. Childcare will be helpful, but also required is help with family supper meals, kitchen clean up, and kid’s bag lunch preparation. A typical week could include 5 weekday mornings from 6:30 – 8:30, 3-4 evenings per week from 15:00 – 18:00, and the occasional weekend day from 08:00 – 16:00. There will be the occasional need for overnight availability for example one weekend a month to share duties with another local babysitter. Our future nanny must have some previous childcare experience and a genuine love of children. You will be independent, responsible, open minded and caring. A driver’s license is required.
