We are looking for someone who is patient, understanding, reliable and kind caregiver to help our 84 year old Italian mother who suffers from advanced Parkinson’s and is diabetic. She does not drink any liquids or food through mouth. She is presently being feed through feeding tube (peg) for 12 hours each day. Her mind works very well but she is not able to speak as her muscles in her throat are affected by the Parkinson's disease Looking for 1 caregiver positions in the Ahuntsic area situated between Sauvé and Cremazie metro. Permanent weekend position – Start Date: September 19th 2020 Flexibility required (6 to 8 hours per day.) Saturday 14:00 pm to 21:00 pm Sunday 9:00 am to 17:00 pm The salary for this position will be partially paid by the CLSC Cheque emploi program and family which is $16.44/hr. during the COVID-19 period Responsibilities: - Help getting her out of bed in the morning. - Helping her with hygiene in the morning, and getting her dressed - Needs to be comfortable in lifting her (115lbs) from wheelchair to seating her on toilet seat. - Assist her with walking and mobility which involves going from bedroom to kitchen a few times a day(either with walker or wheelchair). - At bedtime, helping her with hygiene, and getting her into her pajamas. - Toileting Assistance / incontinence (diapers) - Tube feeding – knowledge in using feeding pump (kangaroo model) Comfortable administering medication with 60 ml syringe at 9:30 am, 11:00 am, 13:00 pm and 15:00 pm - Small household chores such as doing her laundry, making bed, etc. - Comfortable administering medication with 60 ml syringe at 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm - Supervision: she spends majority of the day sitting in her wheelchair in kitchen watching TV or sitting in living room looking outside the front of home. Languages: English (mandatory) and French Spoken (preferable) Ability to communicate verbally in Italian or Spanish (asset) Experience: Preferable to have at least 1 year experience in a similar position with references Preferable to have some experience with using feeding tube, using BD 60ml syringes (Catheter Tip) and Kangaroo feeding pump.
