Full-time/Live-in Caregiver/Companion for Elderly

Live-in Caregiver Position Available Daily requirements: - Full-time employment - 40 hours/week Duties: - Meal planning/prep/cleanup - Tidying the house (vacuum, dusting, dishes) - Administration of oral medications (Potassium/Lasix) - Laundry - Assistance to and from washroom - Assistance with incontinence (Cleanup and change diaper when an accident happens) - Mobility assistance (Getting in and out of bed) - Encouraging exercise (walking with a , stretches in bed) - Assistance getting dressed and doing hair - Assistance applying lotion - Assistance with blood sugar level monitoring (before major meals, must be recorded, no injections needed currently) Qualifications: - Experience with senior care is an asset not a requirement - First aid/ CPR training is an asset not a requirement - Must speak English - Must be able to prepare meals/cook - Should have an uplifting/positive attitude - Attention to detail Living conditions: - Two days off per week can be taken together or separate (We are looking for someone willing to work weekends) - Room and board will be covered which includes; o One fully furnished bedroom ▪ Queen size bed ▪ Two dressers ▪ Attached full bathroom (has walk-in bath) o Access to all appliances; ▪ Television ▪ Fridge (will be allotted room for groceries) ▪ Coffee machine, soda stream, etc ▪ Washer and dryer to clean your clothing and linens o Access to cable TV and WIFI Job description This position is not a 9-5 position as we are looking for someone who is able and okay with staying and being present at the house just in case something is needed. Here is a what the average day is. Morning The morning will consist of; - Assistance to and from washroom - Meal prep for breakfast - Cleanup after breakfast is finished - Assistance with getting dressed We Care will show up by mid-morning and give grandma her medications, make up the bed and assist with grandma’s bath. During the time We care is there you are not required to be in the house (you can go for a walk or whatever you feel compelled to do) you can also use the living room to do any studying or hobbies as long as it doesn’t damage the property. We care will stay for approximately 2 hours in the morning when they leave you will be required to stay in the vicinity where you are able to hear if grandma calls or needs something. Afternoon - Lunch preparation and cleanup - Mobility assistance; helping grandma in and out of bed to the kitchen, bathroom or chair in either her bedroom or the sunroom - Tidying the house; sweeping floors wiping down counters and cupboards, vacuuming - Watering the house plants - Laundry if needed While grandma is napping you will have free time to do activities, but you must be close enough to hear if grandma calls and needs something After her nap, grandma will need; - Washroom assistance - Getting water and/or a snack - Other mobility assistance Evening Around 4:30pm you will need to; - Check blood sugar levels - Start preparations for dinner - Ensure that grandma is drinking water - Cleanup after dinner, wash dishes and general tidy of the kitchen Around 6pm We care will show up and stay for an hour. You will have free time for this hour, again you can leave the house, go for a walk or whatever you want to do. After We care leaves you must again stay close enough to grandma to hear her if she needs something. After We care leaves you will have to; - Assist with mobility o Washroom assistance o Encourage exercise - Get a snack for grandma - Any other assistance that is needed - Assisting with transition to bed - Assist with changing clothes - Removing and storing dentures At this point you can do whatever you like we just ask that you stay within the area that you can hear grandma incase she needs assistance with; - Washroom assistance - Administration of oral medications for pain/breathing issues - Personal hygiene assistance - Help with television The position is not very exhausting and doesn’t require much experience, but it does require your presents in the house for the time when We care is not present You will not be required to go grocery shopping or to go to doctors’ appointments My mother or myself will grab any groceries you require, we just ask that you provide a list of the items needed and funds to grab them Due to grandmas’ condition you may need to call ambulatory services if an emergency arises Thanks, Donald and Cindy
