We are looking for a live-out caregiver to join our family, and provide daytime care for our daughter (2 years) and son (6 1/2 years). We need help approx. 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday during "office hours" (more details below).
Why are we looking
Our household has a couple of health complications that warrant extra caution, so we've opted to keep both children home (rather than go to school & daycare). We both work from home, wear masks when we do have to go out and limit our minimal social contact to outdoor spaces.
If you prescribe to a similar line of thinking, then please keep reading.
What is the role
Childcare is the primary task, with a bit of meal prep (typically lunch, and maybe some dinner prep) and some light housework (time permitting). As our son is being home-schooled this year, we'd request your help in completing 1-2 hours of schoolwork each day (could be some workbooks, maybe a science experiment, crafts, music, reading, or some educational programs on the iPad).
Where are we
We live in Parkland SE. It is best reached by car, but you don't need a car for the job.
What hours
We work typical office hours, and so need help Monday-Friday, approximately 8:30 am-5 pm. That being said, as we are both working from home, we do have some flexibility (for example, if you had a class or commitment on certain days). Even if you needed a few days or a week off every month or two, it's also possible that we could accommodate.
A bit about us.
Our son is 6 1/2 and in Grade 1. He's a bright, inquisitive boy who loves trains, planes, the Titanic, whales, sharks, Lego, playing in the sandbox, and riding bikes & scooters. He is endlessly curious about how things work and wants to understand the how & why.
Our daughter is 2 years old and quite simply adores doing anything she sees her brother doing. Favourite activities include dancing, climbing, making music, playing in water & dirt, eating pasta, and exploring and emptying drawers.
What might you bring to the mix
A Covid-cautious philosophy, CPR & First Aid training, and a caring, energetic personality that's up for a few hours of adventure every day. Lots of energy for outside play, walks, bike rides, dance parties, and Lego building is a must. We also need someone who loves pets (and isn't allergic), as we do have a cat.
Nice to haves:
Experience with children in the toddler and early school years
Perhaps some formal training
A special skill -- perhaps you're a Martha Stewart when it comes to crafts, or a Liberace on the piano, or gifted with a second language
Start date: mid-March
End date: Summer 2021 (to be confirmed, dependent on Covid)
