Our family is looking for a caregiver for our 8-year-old special needs son in the evenings. He is non-verbal and requires assistance with all aspects of daily living. Specific qualifications and job requirements are listed below: - Would like those who have experience working with special needs children and/or those with a nursing/or education background. - Eager to work with our family and his therapists to learn his exercises/therapy routine and help him achieve his physical and communication goals. - Be physically capable of completing one-person lifts and transfers to and from various equipment (wheelchair, standing frame, walker, shower commode). - Able to complete personal care duties including showering, diapering, teeth brushing, feeding, etc. - Must be comfortable and become competent in administering medications and feeds using a g-tube (no prior experience required). - Driving is required. Must have a valid driver's license and provide current driver's abstract. - Current police check is required. - Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. - Must be comfortable with dogs. Core work hours (30 hrs/week) are listed below with the option for additional hours (up to 40/week total) in mornings and/or weekends: Monday to Wednesday from 2:45 pm to 8 pm Thursday from 2:45 pm to 9 pm Friday from 2:45 pm to 10:45 pm Only qualified applicants will be contacted.
