Up to $ 30 per hour based on experience and education. Room included. Start date 18 Jan 2021 or later. This is a long-term position. We are located in North Vancouver and are seeking a nanny to join our family to assist us in raising our 20-month-old boy. We both work from home running our family business. We are looking for a full-time live-in nanny for weekdays and occasional night/weekend when we can go for a date night once the pandemic is over and is safe to, and to enable us to attend business dinners/events. We are looking for an experienced, caring, punctual individual who is passionate about working with children. The nanny will have the energy to play with our toddler and will be able to create a playful, educational, and safe environment while he is in your care. The person should be willing to limit their social bubble to our family until the pandemic is fully over. While the child is napping, we would ask the nanny to help out with light housework (tidying the play area and attached kitchen, laundry, etc) and prepare nutritional, well-balanced, and age-appropriate (e. g. no choking hazards) meals and snacks for our child. Skills/ Assets: - Experience with children aged 22 months is a must - Valid and safe driver's license desired but not required; Due to the current Covid-19 situation we would ask the nanny refrain from using public transport for the foreseeable future and be willing to strictly follow best practices as directed by BC Public Health - Strong English language skills required. Speaking French would be an asset - Must be eligible to work in Canada - Must be able to provide excellent references in Canada - Must be willing to agree to criminal record and background check - Valid First Aid and CPR training - ECCE (Early child care and education) certificate desired, however, will consider ECE (Early childhood education) certificate, certified nanny training, college child education courses, toddler education certificate, or other formal child education - This would be the only job the person will hold while working for our family (40 hours on average, more if/when one of us travels for business post-pandemic) - Must be able to provide up to date vaccination records and be willing to keep up to date on vaccinations (e. g. flu, CoVid Vaccine once available, etc) - Willingness and ability to travel internationally (post-Covid-19) desired but not required Experience, ability, and knowledge required in order to meet the child's needs: Sleep: Maintain sleeping schedule and routine Manage sleep/regressions of child and sleep after time zone changes when traveling with the family Feeding: Maintain feeding schedule Prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals and snacks and serve age-appropriately prepared food (i. e. appropriate size, knowledge of choking hazards, etc) Prepare weekly meal plan and associated shopping list in advance If/when required, handle picky eating Support the child in eating independently (usage of utensils, open cup) and model/teach good manners Support the child in transitioning from high chair to chair when age/ability appropriate Communication/speech: Understanding of language development in young children and the ability to support the child in meeting and exceeding communication, language, and literacy milestones Emotional Development: Understanding and ability to support a child's personal, social and emotional development Understanding of the complexities of child behaviour and ability to promote positive behaviours and support child's diverse needs Learning through play: Ability to observe, assess and plan to provide challenging and purposeful age-appropriate play opportunities Organize activities during the (and after) pandemic that enhance child's physical, emotional and social well-being Potty Training: Support the child's independence (teach to undress to potty, dress after, etc) Support the child while learning to use facilities outside of the home Others: Teach everyday skills (e. g. tying shoes, getting dressed, etc. ) Stay current on toy and child-related recalls and safety warnings If this sounds like something you would be interested in and you meet the requirements, please message.
