We are looking for a loving, positive, honest, respectful and experienced caregiver/coach for an 89 year old male. You must be able to communicate clearly, and respectfully, as one adult to another (no baby talk). and have experience working with people with elders experiencing dementia related issues. Experience speaking to someone with hearing aids is an asset. We are looking for someone able to engage him in conversation and basic activities such as short outdoor walks, outings, brief shopping trips, exercise routines (I can teach you), and active games like kicking a ball, stationary ping pong, catch, balloon volleyball, or adapted floor hockey. He requires some support with personal hygiene, bathing and toileting. House cleaning and simple meal preparation is part of the duties as well. We are searching for someone able to encourage him to keep the skills that he has left, so you must be able to coach and patiently encourage him to do things on his own.
