Job Summary The Live in Caregiver will be responsible for supervision of all daily activities to ensure home and personal safety. Will prepare nutritious meals and preform light housekeeping duties. In addition, the caregiver will ensure medication is administrated at the right times, and when required, will provide escort services to medical, dental and other appointments accompanied by a family member. The caregiver will also provide social engagement and companionship, and will assist with regular exercise and walking. Responsibilities and Duties Supervise daily activities to ensure home and personal safety Shadow walk to prevent slips and falls Prepares and serve fresh nutritious meals. Provide social engagement and companionship Escort to medical, dental and other appointments accompanied by a family member Administer medication according to the doctor’s prescription at the right times Record measurements daily such as blood pressure, heart rate, and body weight Provide personal assistance bathing, toileting and other aspect of personal Hygiene. Assist in regular exercise and walking Preform light housekeeping duties Assume full responsibility of household in the absence of the householder. Skill & Experience 3 to 5 years’ experience with elderly care and be PSW certified would be an asset Possess good English language skills in both oral and written, Italian language would be a great asset Good negotiating skills to have daily tasks perform safely An understanding of food nutrition for elderly people and an understanding of a nutrition label Several years of cooking and preparing homemade meals Possess the ability to provide household cleaning duties Personality Attributes Able to provide a gentle approach to caregiving The ability to develop a good working and caring relationship Able to communicate instructions in an effective manner, avoiding confrontation and conflict
