I am looking for a part-time support worker for my brother who just moved from Marathon to Thunder Bay in October 2020. Number of hours would be 5-6 per week, 2-3 days per week. My brother is 64 years old and is currently living in a long-term care home. He is highly functional but just needs some socialization & companionship due to the COVID restrictions. He has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Duties would include visiting in his room, working with him to expand his knowledge on his recent technology devices (cellphone & iPad), getting him interested again in doing word searches, jigsaw puzzles, colouring. having a nice conversation with him, etc., as well as going out for walks. My brother knows a lot of things about a lot of things! As part of the current long-term care (LTC) current guidelines, full PPE is required when visiting. There is a requirement to participate in infection control training at the LTC home prior to the first visit and monthly afterwards. A COVID nasal test every week is required with proof of such to the LTC home. If working with other people at other sites, then proof of full vaccination would be required. The LTC guidelines are subject to change when COVID-19 restrictions are eased within the Province. Hopefully, this will be happening sooner than later!
