My name is Stacy, and I am a single mother who is a local family physician. I have six children, but don’t panic! Only two are left at home— ages 24 and 19—my 19-year-old experiences life with Down syndrome. I am looking for someone to be a companion to her and help with her care. Optimally it would be someone willing to work approximately 24 hours per week – 2 PM-6 PM on Mondays to Thursdays and 10 AM-6 PM on Fridays. I have some flexibility with the schedule. I am looking for a fun, patient, confident person willing to engage her in her chosen activities. She likes to swim, go to the park or gym, ride her bike, go to the library, play video games, and go to the movies. She may occasionally need to be taken to appointments. I would appreciate some light housekeeping and making dinner from time to time. Engaging my daughter in food preparation would be a bonus. Experience with children with special needs is an asset but not required. We are looking for someone who is fully vaccinated and able to wear a mask. A criminal record check and driving record are required. It is important to note that my 24-year-old is transfemale, and anyone I hire would need to be respectful of her story.
