Hi! My name is Amena, and I am a recent graduate from the University of Ottawa. I studied Biomedical Science with a minor in Psychology. I am currently looking to get into medical school.
I have a lot of experience working with kids. Two of my main experiences include working as a Kumon assistant with students aged 2-17, in math and linguistic areas, helping them form foundational skills as well as work on more advanced areas. I also am a volunteer at my old elementary school, Carson Grove, where I work with 4th and 5th graders in a variety of subjects. I have experience with working with students with limited English, students on the Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other learning disabilities. I am patient and build great rapport with any student!
I am really passionate about working with children and advocating for them. Education has always been a strong focal point in my life, and I am determined to deliver the same ambition to students.
I am a big reader! I read over 100 books every year, and am able to talk about any genre for ages. I am also a writer, and delve into poetry and fictional stories. Aside from reading and writing, swimming is my favourite hobby - I am usually at the pool twice a week!
I am flexible with prices, and can do as low as minimum wage. I'm looking to make a difference in students' lives and enrich their learning, with passion and creativity.
