Job Title: Au Pair (Live-In) Location: Vernon (Predator Ridge), Nanaimo (Decourcy Island), and City of Vancouver About Us: We are a warm and welcoming family residing across the picturesque landscapes of Vancouver Island, the Okanagan, and Vancouver. With busy schedules and active lifestyles, we are seeking a compassionate and responsible individual to join our family as an au pair. Our home is filled with laughter, adventure, and love, and we are excited to welcome someone who shares our values into our household. We are looking to have a second child in the near future and would love for the au pair to remain with us for a multi-year period. Position Overview: We are looking for an au pair to provide support with childcare and light household duties. This is a live-in position, offering a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of British Columbia while becoming an integral part of our family. We have homes in Vernon, BC (Predator Ridge) and Vancouver Island (Decourcy Island) that we spend the majority of our time. You would have a dedicated room/space at both of these properties. For the right candidate, they could still choose to live at home in either Vernon or Nanaimo, but they would have to live with us while we travel to the other houses. We also spend a lot of time in the City of Vancouver. When the opportunities arise, we would also like someone that is available to travel with us as well. The au pair will primarily be responsible for assisting with the care of our two-year-old son, as well as providing support with other household tasks. The job would start with a 2-month plus stay at our property on Vancouver Island. After that, we would be looking to relocate to Vernon in the Fall and stay there for a longer period. Key Responsibilities: - Engage with and supervise our two-year-old son in various activities, including playtime, developmental exercises, and outings. - Prepare and serve meals and snacks for our son, adhering to any dietary preferences or restrictions. - Assist with light household chores such as tidying up communal areas, children's laundry, and meal preparation. - Accompany the family on outings and excursions, providing additional support and supervision as needed. - Foster a nurturing and supportive environment for our son, promoting his emotional and social development. Qualifications: - Previous experience working with toddlers and young children, either as a nanny, babysitter, or au pair. - Genuine passion for childcare and a desire to positively impact the lives of children. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children of varying ages. - Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate the needs and schedules of a busy household. - Valid driver's license . - First aid and CPR certification preferred. We are a young family living in lake country and are looking for a nanny minimum 2 days a week to start ( Wednesdays and Thursdays 8:30-4:30) with the option for more full time if you like. You would be responsible for my 1.5 year old during the day and then pick up of my 4 year old from pre school at 2:15 and care for them both for the rest of the day (8 hour days). We would require some house cleaning and meal prep/ cooking especially if there is a day the kids are busy with other activities. Would be more a mother’s helper on those days. She is mobile with a walker but requires assistance with dressing, bathing, meal preparation, light exercise, and other forms of mental stimulation. Her long term memory is fine, short term memory is gone. Looking for a patient but energetic companion to assist us from morning through lunch till the afternoon nap at 1-2pm and to assist the family with housework such as laundry, light cleaning and other chores as needed.
