I have been babysitting since I took the Red Cross Babysitting course at age twelve. I grew up with three siblings so I babysat my little brother and his friends for years. I looked after a four year old boy for two and a half years before moving to Victoria. When taking care of Lake I helped with his developmental set backs by specializing in Child-Led play; as well as outdoor activities and lots of indoor games. I also prepared meals and did light cleaning around the house. During this time I also did part time care for an 18 month old until he was three. Before coming to Lakes family I did part time childcare for a two year old until he was six. I would take Emmett to the park, play with him indoors, put him to bed and stay over night. I have had many other short term nanny jobs through out the years and have experience taking care of groups of five to ten children for the Nelson Waldorf School. I went to a Waldorf School K-8 and to the local high school.

I have been invited to slow down in life lately, and take a pause from all that I had been doing. At this point, I am eager to support a family in any way that I can - be it childcare, meal prep, cleaning, animal care.. part time. There is a child within me, as with everyone, and I appreciate having kids around to help nurture that aspect of myself. It is my intention to honour children exactly as they are, and to create a safe, open, loving place of acceptance while providing them with the tools and skills they need to support themselves as adults. I am independent, helpful, self-motivated, eager to learn, introspective, compassionate, inquisitive, and a seeker of change. I learn through the mistakes I make, which I like to honour in children as well. I enjoy simplicity, as well as being both in solitude and community. I strive to be unapologetically me in all that I do. I like to listen and observe. I very much feel a sense of fulfilment through contributing to something that is bigger than just me. I know there is so much out there to explore, and I take it a day at a time. I'm just figuring it out as I go... I am definitely not perfect, and try to bring as much awareness as I can to my humanness. I am not one to hide how I am feeling, which is something that I believe translates well to being around little kids - just allowing ourselves to be and show up exactly as we are, no matter how it looks. I really like singing and playing guitar, as well as writing and colouring. I enjoy preparing meals and baked goods. I like campfires, food, nature, hikes and mindful movement, perusing markets, exploring my mind and treating life as a ceremony. I am based in Victoria at the moment. I don't have a vehicle of my own, but have my full license. Looking forward to connecting! My very first job was babysitting my younger sibling who is 4 years younger than me, which quickly translated over to watching kids in the neighbourhood and surrounding areas. I did this for many years. I eventually worked in a childminding center for a couple of years, tending to children from 6 weeks - 10+ years old. Casual or Scheduled Childcare Available I am normally available to care for your children in your home on weekends all day and night alternating Mondays all day and all evenings after 5:30 PM. I charge $17. per hour with a minimum of $50. to a maximum daily charge of $150. You are responsible for the cost of programs registration and/or entrance fees during outings. Prefer up to two children, Ages: 2 to 14 years but may consider more depending on ages and situation. I have many years of child care experience. References available on request. The boy and girls that I use to look after (ages 2 to 14) on Saturdays are now teenagers and no longer need me to take care of them :( .
