Herons Nest Respite Guest House is hiring. Herons Nest is a guest house for special needs children and youth LOCATED ON GABRIOLA ISLAND. All our guests are referred by the Ministry of Children and Family. These are children who live with their natural families, and we support those families by providing regular, reliable respite. We cherish every guest and offer care in an atmosphere of welcoming hospitality. We are looking for a person who can fill the role of House Manager while providing some hours assisting with child and youth care. This position involves preparing the guesthouse for each specific guest and maintaining a well-organized environment to offer optimized care. The ideal candidate is. • a competent manager, • can work independently. • passionate about ensuring that the guesthouse is well organized. • passionate about ensuring high levels of cleanliness and hygiene. • with an attention to details that ensures a high standard of hospitality. • Can work in a fast-paced environment. • Can physically manage turning over three rooms twice a week We are looking for someone that is comfortable is supporting children with autism, global development delays, fetal alcohol syndrome, cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, Parkinson disease, mobility challenges, and so on. Every child that attends Herons Nest has their own specific care needs. The successful applicant must be comfortable supporting a wide range of behaviors and providing support for more basics care needs such as dressing, bathing, feeding and toileting children and youth of all ages. Please read before applying, I must say im on Vancouver Island not near Vancouver. Looking for help cooking, cleaning, errands, at30$per hour, need a team of 3 or so to fill 7 days at 4 hours a day, between11am 4pm 3 days shift a week or 4 days a week shift. I now need help with Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday 3 to 4 hours a day. 🙂

After my stroke in January this year I need help with household chores etc I am generally fairly mobile but my left arm is still paralyzed, the left leg works somehow. I need help shopping sometimes clothing a bit and for showering washing and towelling my back everything else I take care of myself very self-contained so no accidents on a general note going to the washroom myself.. I am 62 years old and live in my motorhome.

18 year old girl with profound disability and medically complex. Requires a medically experienced caregiver for 30 - 40 hours per week or more. Tasks and responsibilities include preparing and administering medication, providing full assistance with all ADL's, toileting, dressing, feeding (feeding tube), housekeeping for daughter's space, socializing and interaction including nature walks, driving to and from school or appointments as needed, work with other caregivers or parents as required. This is a very supportive work environment, where we strive as best we can to provide the utmost in training, assistance, and accelerate responsibilities when appropriate. Care Aide training or basic medical experience would be a huge asset. At the moment we are requiring our workers to be vaccinated for COVID, due to respiratory vulnerability of the patient and also of family members in the household. Temporary live-in, or occaisional overnight is possible also, depending on circumstances. Looking for somebody to commit to long term to provide continuity of care. This is a rewarding position and caregivers will work in tandem for part of most shifts to lessen burnout and to provide layering of work tasks. Wage is negotiable based on experience.
