I've taken care of cats dropping in morning and evening to feed them, give them medicine, including some that might be considered difficult to administer, played with them, and kept them company. I've kept puppies and other dogs company while their owners were at work, walking them, etc. I've been in work camps with up to 30 dogs before so I'm very accustomed to dogs with many different temperaments and needs!
