I am 53yo from Manila, Philippines. I am separated for 8yrs with no kids. On my spare time, I love to cook and bake which become my hobby and turned into business. Preparing healthy meals has been my passion that started when I decided to choose a healthy lifestyle when I was on my critical wieght. Organizing and keeping everything in order and tidy at home were my daily chores. I studied and choose to become a Caregiver when I took good care of my father with Alzeimer for 5years. I saw how this disease slowly and progressively detoriates him physically and mentally. My daily routine includes, daily bathing, brush teeth, preparing his meal to ensure that he still gets all the nutrients by using food processor to prevent him from choking since he's already in the stage of difficulty swallowing, weekly travel to see his doctor, changing diapers, let him watch his favorite TV show, showing old photos and allow him to reminisce names and events, bring him outside on his wheelchair to enjoy the sun and breath fresh air. These personal experiences has inspired me to study about being a Caregiver. I would say that with the above personal experiences and having a formal study and training of Caregiving, it helps me understand more and do the proper approach in my patients for 2years with Down Syndrome. Different case but the right basic approach and care was totally the same as long as you do it passionately and treated like your family. Assisting with personal care: bathing and grooming, dressing, toileting, and exercise. Basic food preparation: preparing meals, housekeeping, laundry, and other errands and administering medicine prepared by the guardian/relative. - Monitored patient daily condition by observing her mental and physical condition. - Provide daily grooming and hygiene related tasks such as brushing teeth, combing hair, use of cologne and deodorant, dressing up well, clipping nails, and shaving. - Provide oral medications as directed and instructed by the relative/guardian. - Monitoring/assisting patient’s daily recreational activities such as walking, biking and planting. - Preparation of meals to ensure a healthy and balance fiber-rich food as instructed by the relative/guardian. - Cleaning and organizing the bedroom to ensure a safe and accident free room. - Limit and monitor the use of gadgets and access to a safe social media site.
