Hi! My name is Heidi. I grew up in Canmore, AB, in the Rocky Mountains, to an adventurous family who worked in the adventure tourism industry, owning heli-skiing lodges and a ski-kayak business in Tofino, BC. So, my childhood was spent exploring vast mountain peaks and the beautiful rugged coastlines of the west coast of Vancouver Island by kayak.
After I graduated from high school, I received a broadcasting scholarship, which I attended in the USA. Upon completion, I did some traveling while using my degree to pursue voice-over work and sports interviewing. My travels led me to meet some very interesting people, eventually leading to a teaching opportunity in outdoor education in Australia and New Zealand for two years. Then, I received a call from my brother, who mentioned an opportunity to take over the family business—a remote skiing lodge southwest of Revelstoke, BC. He asked if I would be interested in helping run the lodge's in-lodge services while being mentored under the current head chef to see if that could be something I was interested in. Lo and behold, I fell in love with cooking!
After the first year of operation in taking over the family ski lodge, I went to culinary school in Vancouver, where I graduated with honors. Now, seven years later, I have successfully been a head chef for several remote ski lodges, catered large adventure-based retreats, worked as a private chef for families all over BC, and published my first cookbook two years ago. I am now looking for work closer to home to be around my family and friends more. While my adventurous spirit will always be with me, I am currently seeking work closer to home in my next career chapter, all while doing something I still love—helping people fuel their bodies to make us feel our best!
I am a Red Seal-trained chef with seven years of experience as a private chef. My work has ranged from catering retreats to high-end resorts, including heli-skiing and hiking destinations. Most recently, I served as a personal chef on an 80-foot yacht.
