I'm Darlyn , 20 years old. I'm an international student from the Philippines, currently pursuing Personal Support Worker (PSW) at Anderson College. I'm a kind and honest type of person. I usually like to draw, read, and to paint. When I was in the Philippines I took care of my grandma and grandpa, I help them in their daily live activities. I arrived here in Canada last August, and in September I accompanied an elder lady who is having a hard time to walk, I assisted and help her in walking and when she is going to the washroom, I also assisted her in exercising. I also help her when she is eating and I prepare her medicines. Last October, I assisted an elder man, I prepared his meals and medicines, I help his PSW in changing his clothes. I also assisted him in his daily activities. I also do part-time overnights sometimes. I'm assisting them in walking, medication, grooming. I prepare their meals and clothes. I also do housekeeping. I help them in their daily activities.

I would describe myself as honest, caring, observant, reliable, respectful and a very patient and calm personality person .Over the years i worked in areas where we have to deal with different people of different personalities. It was not a paid job experience as a senior caregiver because it was my own grandmother whom i have looked after for over past five years.She had a mild dementia and parents were always busy so i have been taking care of her and i felt it was fun doing it.I worked as a Nanny cum housekeeper and with Aman Resorts and The roseate properties which are top international Hotels and Resorts where the need to work closely with other people, follow strict rules and procedures, and demonstrate understanding and empathy have been required. Honestly, i always have giving and helping personality.My first experience as senior caregiver was my own grandmother who had dementia.Her Dementia was not too severe, so we had some great times together, even celebrating Her Birthdays, New Year’s and many more. But with any level of dementia, there are extra demands on an in-home care provider. The job (though not for pay) was full time, 24-hours a day. She lived in a family house in a village, so, thankfully, i would prepare her meals . I always liked cooking so it was more fun.I would help her with meeting Doctors, her medicines as prescribed by doctors on time, making sure she takes shower, and sending her to bed.While she takes rest i would start tidying up, clean the house and do her laundry and watch movies and shows with her.
