Hello :) My name is Victory. I am African-American. I am a 17-year-old college student in my 2nd year of pre-nursing at Brandon University. I love crocheting, baking, and reading books. I am the last child of my parents, but I have many younger cousins that I have taken care of since 2018. I also worked as a summer camp staff at a daycare this summer. I love working with kids because of how fun it is to be around them, and it has been my passion to take care of kids as I would love to be a pediatric nurse in the future. Some of the tasks you can expect me to complete are making snacks, light cleaning, fun indoor and outdoor activities, regulating sleep-wake patterns set by parents/guardians and assisting with homework. I started working with kids by taking up babysitting jobs in 2018. Most of the babysitting jobs I took were for relatives and neighbours who lived close to me and whose kids were in grade school. I engaged with the children by playing games, working on puzzles and reading books with some screen time (based on the parents/ guardian's preference). I also organized and cleaned the home after activities by picking up toys and straightening the room. I prepared healthy, age-appropriate snacks (based on the parent's / guardian's preference knowledge). I bathed, dressed and helped with teeth brushing as part of bedtime preparation and assisted the children with homework assignments and special projects across different subjects. Before I left the home, I made sure I gave the parent/guardian a brief run-down of how the day went with their child. Recently, I worked as a summer camp staff in a daycare where I worked with grade schoolers and middle schoolers. My fellow daycare staff and I supervised the children by preparing day-to-day camp tasks, leading interactive sessions with the kids and providing supervision on field trips.

Note that the preferred living arrangement is as a live-out and I am seeking part-time work. I am a 40 years old woman from Nigeria and I've recently relocated to Canada, just about a month ago. I'm thrilled about this new chapter in my life, even as I continue to cherish my roots. I come from a warm and close-knit family, teeming with younger brothers and a smattering of adorable cousins. This created a childhood that was bustling with noise, mischief and laughter. Being the eldest daughter in the family, certain expectations invariably fell upon my shoulders. Some of these were born out of necessity, others were borne of tradition. It was a tacit understanding that as the first girl in the family, I was to embody hard work and intelligence. This unwritten law was upheld in my family, and I took it as my own personal challenge. Through this, I quickly learned how to navigate a variety of situations, including the art of cleaning. A skill often considered mundane yet requires a considerable amount of effort, discipline, and attention to detail. This responsibility taught me that every job, no matter how small or seemingly trivial, played a significant role in promoting wellness and harmony within a family and even within a community. This outlook has allowed me to view life from a unique perspective, and I continue to apply it in Canada, my new home where I am eager to make a positive impact. I have spent the past 7 years working with children on the autism spectrum - It is a job that I truly enjoy as I love being able to help others and have always loved working with children of all ages. After a couple years of travelling & tutoring English overseas, I attended Brandon University with the goal to obtain a degree in Education. After 2 years of university, I chose to withdraw so I could explore my career in child care (more specifically, teaching and caring for children with autism).
