I am currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated professional experienced in senior and health care services, specifically for a 22-year-old with Autism who is non-verbal. The ideal candidate should have a background dealing with individuals with speech impairments, understanding their unique needs and ways of communication. As a full-time or part-time live-in caregiver, you will play a critical role in ensuring comfortable living and a rich quality of life for my family member, beginning from 1st April 2024. The role requires you to assist during mornings, midday and evenings from Monday through Friday, totaling about 20 to 30 hours per week. Your tasks will include housekeeping, keeping the bathroom clean and tidy, assisting with bathing, dressing and grooming, and providing toileting assistance. Just as important as these tasks is a keen understanding and empathy towards the resident's needs. Your ability to maintain a calm and comforting demeanor at all times will create a nurturing environment, essential for the well-being of a person with special needs. Though a driver's license is not a necessity, flexibility is - your presence and assistance will be required at different times throughout the week, making this role ideal for someone adaptive and devoted. currently recruiting for the following role: A Respite Worker supporting a youth within an ADT program. The position is required for 40 hours per week for a period of 3 months. Hourly pay is the equivalent of Band 1 – Step 1 $23.00. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to: Providing goal-based respite supports for youth in Brantford, (ages 0 – 18) identified with mental health needs, and their families. To provide support within an Adolescent Day Treatment Program To implement individualized goal-focused respite supports in collaboration with clinician and/or managers. Flexible schedule including daytime, evening and weekends based on client need and availability Implement client focused activities, responsive to the needs of clients. May be on an individual basis or within a group setting Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of job (written/verbal/implied) Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within an inter-disciplinary team Demonstrate confidence, self-direction and sound judgment in the role Qualifications: Must have or be working towards Child & Youth Worker (CYW) diploma, Developmental Support Worker (DSW), Social Service Worker (SSW), Autism Behavioural Sciences (ABS) certificate or relevant education and/or experience · Minimum 2 years experience in children’s mental health and working with families · A demonstrated ability to work from a strength-based, collaborative perspective with clients and families Sound knowledge and/or experience in the mental health field and an ability to manage the emotional and behavioural needs of clients Strong ability to communicate concise, accurate information in verbal and written reporting Current certification in first aid and CPR NVCI and ASIST certification an asset Knowledge of DBT, CBT and Applied Behaviour Analysis an asset Current police check within the past 6 months, including vulnerable screening Strong organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills Computer skills Valid driver’s license and daily use of a reliable vehicle with the ability to transport clients Must be available for 40 hours per week for 3 months.
