I come from Quebec, so I speak French, English and a bit of Spanish. Me and my children moved to Nanaimo 8 years ago for me to attend university here. I also homeschooled my children for about three years. I have experience as a babysitter and a training in special need care. My children are back to school, and I have availability to babysit in the week and on weekends. My schedule is flexible, and I can accommodate last minute needs. I am a very caring and loving person as well as creative and active. I will bring your child in nature, on bus rides, on different activities, etc. I love being with children and I do take my babysitting jobs at heart. I choose to work with children because I love being with them and I like the flexibility to choose different adventures to do with the child (children) and have spontaneity in our days. One thing for sure, we will have fun together, I promise! I have taking care of children as a babysitter for a couple of years back in Quebec and raised my own 3 boys now school aged (13, 11, 9) and I also have taking care of 3 children here in Nanaimo.

I am a paramedic who has moved from a remote area to the city to be closer to my aging mother who will be living with me once our home renovations are complete. I also have two service dogs who are about 10 pounds each and are hypoallergenic. They are a great teaching tool for kids learning about respect, compassion, trust, etc. So I imagine the ideal scenario to involve a multi generational care environment with different stimuli. We have endless art supplies and I do a lot of painting; on rocks, paper, canvas etc. My preference is to have the flexibility to be in either resident as sometimes familiarity is best suited tor your child and other times a change is best. Together, we can come up with the best care plan for your child/children. I am very communicative and will never leave you wondering about progress, changes, challenges, etc. I am a careful eater, and have the ability to adapt to and dietary needs. I follow an AIP diet, and my mom avoids gluten and dairy, but I can cook anything that suits your family. I am very healthy and havent had so much as a sniffle in decades. I stay active and prefer to be outdoors when possible. I checked off ‘good swimmer’ in this profile. I am not a stylish swimmer doing laps in a pool, but I surf, and race kayaks, and do competitive kiteboarding etc, and in our remote community, we do rescues on the lakes for float plane crashes, and I have done a fair amount of commercial fishing, so I am comfortable in any water related situation. Life is beautiful, and I am looking forward to speaking with you. I am a paramedic and I am trained to handle all emergencies. I have worked over 10 years with the Ministry of children and family development doing residential care for ‘at risk’ youth and younger children. I was responsible for stabilizing their behaviours and improving school attendance and med compliance. In the programs in my homes, the focus was on creating sustainable habits that they can build their life upon; meals, morning and night routines were essential for them to look forward to. We worked on basic communication for younger kids to express their thoughts to complex problem solving for older kids. Often kids are traumatized in some way before they start my program, and my personal approach was to give them an environment full of alternative choices; food, activities, emotional outlets, healing/therapy choices -music, art, play etc I worked primarily with kids who have fetal alcohol affects, and some who are on the autism spectrum, and a couple of kids who are developmentally delayed. Childcare is what I studied at school and what I did when I started working. It has been 15 years since I had kids in my care, and the language and political correctness may have changed since then but my philosophy will still stand true….. for when kids are at their worst and you are at your topes end….. ‘its when you feel they deserve it the least, they need it the most… love’. Additional Experiences/Qualifications: I prefer to focus on your children only. Pets are ok, but care for other people’s children will need to be discussed if it comes up. I provide high quality interactive care. The tv is rarely on, and I prefer to involve the children in the tasks I am doing. This has been the key to my success in the past; interactive and involved care. We can come to an agreement about my expected tasks. Also the rate above is for one child and a minimum of 3 hrs. It is adjusted accordingly based on number of children. Less than 3 hours can be arranged at a rate of $25 per hr Any expected driving for pick up or drop off is an additional. 40 cents per km. I am always accessible via txt/phone. I do not try and change how anyone parents, but I am happy to give feedback when asked. I have completed a number of electives relating to child care under the program umbrella of social service work. I am also a former Kumon instructor for accelerated extra circular learning I am a pcp level trained paramedic

I can supply references from within Canada as well. I don't smoke and I am fully vaccinated. I have some first aid courses including outdoor first aid, but they are all a little back so I would refresh these. I am reliable, attentive to details, emphatic, caring and open minded. I love travelling and enjoy meeting new people and good conversations as well as everything outdoors. I worked with children with ADHS and some other special needs. I also have a children /youth sport training certificate (which is not valid right now since I am not in Germany, however, I have the training). Greeting each day with gratitude, life becomes a delight, a JOY. I have a big heart and have an easy natural rapport with children. I love their candid, honest, playful nature, and just how darn perceptive they are at an early age! I am genuine, fun loving, interactive, kind, respectful, down to earth, easy going but also know when to establish healthy boundaries with kids if/when needed. I am patient, calm but cheerful, compassionate, encouraging, nurturing, with a great sense of humour and play time just comes easy! I am health conscious, and normally very active, (I played competitive tennis until I injured my knee a few years ago) so now I just skip to the beach to swim everyday instead... no not in winter but almost! The local kids ask, are you a mermaid ? I keep a clean, tidy house and love all animals too. Children are a gift ~ deserving of a bright, positive, loving environment, all of which brings a humble joy to my heart to be a part of :-) I was blessed to be a hands on step parent for 5 years, caring for 2 amazing children during their formative years, from the ages 5 - 10 years old. I was their primary care giver with a one week on/off rotation during the shchool year, and full time care giver for several consecutive weeks during the summer. We had lots of fun! I also have experience as a live-in nanny for a wonderful 9 year old boy during a time when his mother was recieiving cancer treatment and I'm happy to say that they are both doing very well.

Hi, my name is Anna. I would describe myself as a creative and active person who loves to be outdoors. I have a college degree in graphic design and work part time in my profession. During the other half of my work day I prefer to do more active and engaging things like being with kids and exploring outdoors. I have a 7 year old daughter and my partners 12 year old son. We live an active, mindful and balanced lifestyle with focus on our physical and mental well-being. I moved from Germany to Canada in 2009 and speak English and German. Before I became a mother I nannied in my community in Nanaimo for several years. Today I volunteer in our children’s learning cooperative and Nanny a couple days a week. I feel at home with the Waldorf concept and nature based learning. I have my drivers license and my own car. I am also happy to take over household chores like doing the dishes or laundry. I enjoy being creative with the kids and like to draw, paint, do yoga and dance with them. I also believe spending time outside in nature is very important. I am patient and supporting, making kids feel safe, but also encourage them to learn and develop their individuality and personality. My last Nany positions was with one 2.5 year old. We spend the mornings together exploring in nature, playing outdoors, doing arts and crafts, baking and reading books. I also have my own 7 year child I take care off.
